Zhian noted the change in the male smells and the slight change in the female smells. Her children had the time to move now. She would lose some of them, but she understood that from their first raid. Zen taught that death was a part of life and that it could be mourned quietly. And as soon as her objective was accomplished, she would take that time of meditative reflection with the children she had left. The side flanks had already laid the branches and stranglethorn weeds in the road. The branches would trip the horses and the stranglethorn would hold them tight enough so that they wouldn't move. The flank in back of her started to move to their positions on the side of the road, hidden amongst the dark grass. She had taught her children well, and now was always the time in which they shined.
When the smoke cleared, she would count them lucky, take what she could, and move on from here. There were plenty of expensive carriages like this, though none quite so elegant.
She waited until the first horse tripped on the branch and signaled for an attack from all sides. It had begun.

"Yes. We are going to be attacked in a moment. I do not know what our compatriots may choose to do. However we are exceptionally valuable hostages. Something which we should make obvious from the outset. Which means that we should not offer violence to our attackers unless they force us to that end."
Valentine pauses to smooth her skirt, unnecessarily.
"We have a mission and we must carry it out by whatever means we can."

The beast staggers, but the momentum of the carriage and its harness partner haul its balance away, and it falls to its knees - bringing the whole ensemble to a sudden, jarring halt.
K'Kerom digs his claws into the roof of the carriage, but its not enough to keep him in place. He flies off the roof and over the two beasts. With a flick of his wings and tail, he flips and twists in the air so he lands softly on the ground in front of the carriage, facing it.
He unsheaths his twin katana and jumps into a ready position in front of the carriage doors, steely blue eyes filing through the shapes moving in the shadows.
"Driver, to the other side!" he orders, his voice a hiss. The driver obeys, but his movement is unsure. He would be next to useless in a fight.

Ciel nodded and kept as quiet as possible. Valentine was right. They would make valuable hostages. It simply wouldn't do to give them the wrong impression -- That the hostages would put up without a fight. She had the dagger that Thane had given her, so long ago, carefully hidden under her skirts.
Let them come inside the carriage if they dared. They would not make it out again.

As the horse tripped and the male flipped himself into position, Zhian nodded softly from her place in the dark grass. The small legion of her children that were still next to her made their move. And with her well placed hand signals, the right and left flanks of them barreled down to meet the winged man in battle. If things looked too far away from what the plan was, she had a way of stopping them. She only wished she did not have to do so. They were her children after all.
She kept her eyes on the winged man and waited to see how well her children fared against him. She hoped that most of them would make it out alive. Rebuilding them was always the worst. It took too long to teach a newly made child...
But, her Zen teachings were being put into effect. She would not go herself unless it was necessary. Now, it was time to watch. Her children were bearing down on the carriage and their weapons flashed despite the darkness.

Valentine takes a deep breath and lets it out again. She shifts slightly, but her eyes remain locked on the carriage door.

K'Kerom stands in front of the doors, steely eyes sifting through the seemingly-countless constructs pouring in from all sides. He grips his katana tightly, tail lashing behind him as he struggles to push past the flight-or-fight response singing through is body.
The driver is just another sort of demon - his only virtue being that the High Chancellor trusted him enough to send him on this mission. K'Kerom knows there is no help from that quarter.
Yet he alone is not enough to defend against an entire bandit attack. There is no running, and should he stand and fight...
His lips tighten against the urge to bare his fangs in a snarl of frustration. He lowers his katana - not desperate or stupid enough to sheath them - and hopes like Elysium the ladies in the carriage would forgive him.
"We surrender!" he shouts loudly, hoping the master of the beasts would hear him. "We will not fight you! Take what you will, and be on your way! We are on a mission for the Empire, and time is no ally of ours!"

Zhian's eyebrow's lifted slightly. There would be no fighting today then. Good. That meant her children would live for another day. She rose, fluidly, and gave all of her children the order to stand down. The constructs, looking around at her, nodded like children and started to retreat back until they received their next orders.
She stalked over to one of the horses and cut it loose. She spoke without looking up at K'Kerom. "And who are you to give such an order? I know you are not the leader, they ride inside. They would let your valuables be taken without so much as a bat of the eye? I find this hard to believe. I have cut one horse loose. I will free the other once I have spoken to that being in charge. My children will wait on the sidelines until I tell them otherwise. "
She sheathed her bootknife and stood, letting her arms hang by her side. Her amber edged hair blowing in the slight breeze, she made no other movements but a slight twitch of her ears, making the little gold chains on them jingle. The dark topaz of her eyes glinted as she stared.

K'Kerom remains standing in front of the carriage doors, his wings tucked close at his back and tail twitching behind him. His ears follow the beast as it runs through the forest, tracking it and hoping it doesn't get itself eaten, but his eyes never leave the Kitsune.
"I am but the guard," he replies, his free ear swiveling to the carriage, "and bound by life and honor to allow no harm to come to those in my charge. You can take your trinkets and baubles without speaking to the-" He catches himself, tail twitching in annoyance. "My charge inside."

The kitsune's head rose only so slightly and her amber eyes glinted harder, her earring chains ringing like chimes that have been slightly disturbed. "I do not think that you quite understand what I have said. I will speak to your charges. I want to hear it from the head, not the tail. My children will await me, but they do get impatient if kept waiting too long. Bear this in mind, guard."
The last word was bitten off and it felt as if the wind whipped around her. Standing there, she could already tell that her children were starting to itch for combat or movement. Neither of which she could get if this lowly guard did not get his rump in gear and get the important women out of the carriage. If he didn't move it, there would be something happening that would break her promise. She did not wish that to happen. She might be a bandit, but she was a woman of her word.

The quiet from outside doesn't seem to have much effect on Valentine until she presses her hands to her temples and stands abruptly. She sighs and glides to the door.
"What exactly is going on here?" Her voice is gentle, her eyebrows furrowed worriedly. She leans around K'kerom to look at the bandits, close enough for him to catch the scent of her rising power. "Gray Shadow, why have we stopped?"

K'Kerom lifts a wing, trying to block Valentine from view of the bandits.
"My lady, please remain inside," he implores softly. His control slipped ever-so-slightly, and his tail swung once before being forced back to stillness. "It is nothing more than bandits that stand in our way."

Zhian stepped out from behind the wing and fluidly stood with her arms crossed, the chains on her ears tinkling only slightly as she moved. The look on her face could be construed as complete annoyance. Her lips were pressed in a firm line as she spoke, softly and with a fairly deadly tone. "I have promised to harm no one in this carriage, but my children are getting irritable. I can control them, but if you tarry too long their instincts will trump any hold I have upon them. Constructs are made that way, I'm afraid."
Her tail twitched only slightly, but her eyes were scanning her poor children to make sure that her word was true. They were fidgeting, some swinging their weapons idly. They were beginning to get more restless than before. She sincerely did not want bloodshed, but she had to feed them soon. Perhaps the beings in the carriage would feed them well enough so that she would not have to steal anymore for a week. That was a great supposition on her part, as her children were mant and always hungry, but she could hope.
"Miss, I urge you to waste no time and give us all of your valuable possessions. Your guard has been gracious enough to waste time and your steeds almost lost use of their legs because of it. I am a student of great patience, but even I cannot wait indefinitely. Choose, and choose well."

Valentine looks from one to the other as they speak her face composed but her eyebrows rising.
"Valuables? Is that all these people want? Well enough, it's nothing that cannot be replaced." She frowns as she reaches for fastenings of her dress. "Gray Shadow, my jewelry and gowns if you would. It is a small enough price to pay for us to be on our way." She shimmies out of her gown calmly and folds it precisely before stepping down to hand it to Zhian herself, along with a hard slap of leccubi power.
"Are you satisfied? Or do you require more of me?" There is a faint suggestive, or perhaps annoyed thread in the Ambassadors voice as she looks down her nose at the Kitsune Bandit.

Leccubi-inspired lust hits Zhian, spilling onto K'Kerom. Both are distracted and somewhat disoriented by the weight of Valentine's power.

"Ambassador? Is everything all right out there?" Ciel couldn't help being curious after all. She had been listening in from behind the door and wanted to know if she was needed. Lysandor had taught her to fight and she had been itching to try out the moves he showed her.
If Valentine said the word, she would stretch her legs, so to speak.

Valentine's eye close for a moment and then she opens them again. She doesn't even turn around as she addresses Ciel her tone biting and exasperated. "The delay is being handled, girl. I told you what I wanted you doing. Go back to the bed and wait." She looks at Zhian and then sighs.
"My fledgling. She's curious and a bit foolish. I suppose I'll have to be a bit more strenuous teaching in her to obey." The ambassador glances out over the constructs. "I'm sure you can relate."

K'Kerom's eyes flutter slightly as the lust hits him, and the fur on his tail and back of his neck stand on end. He shifts slightly, feeling suddenly uncomfortable in his clothing. His ears flicker back and forth as he tries to focus once more on the interaction between the Ambassador and bandit.

Zhian's face was the picture of calm as the lust washed over her. As the jewels and things were laid before her, she hesitated only slightly before making a whisper quick motion to one of her children. The construct looked as though he were sewn together from different colored rags, all different shades of gray. The face was ugly and scarred, but the eyes were clear as it scuttled in to take the valuables and tromp back off into the forest with his brothers.
The kistune turned back to Valentine and nodded, so slightly that the chains on her ears made the smallest noise. "I have trained my children well, as my Master taught me. I only thrash them when they endanger me or their brethren in their actions. Being that I have no stake in your fledgling's actions, I will say this: Treat them well, for one day you may find yourself as food for their bloodlust. Good day milady. May the rest of your trip be well. You will not see me again unless I wish you too."
She turned and as quickly as she'd shown herself, she vanished back into the trees. She and her children were nowhere to be seen.

The ambassador waits a moment, watching as all the constructs vanish back into the forest. She beckons to K'kerom and then turns into the carriage. Once inside and away from the sight of the door she collapses into a chair and presses her hands to her temples. She shuts her eyes and bites down on her lower lip drawing blood.
"I beg your pardon for the way I spoke to you, Lady Trekand... I did not want to risk that bandit suspecting who you are." Despite the fact that fact that she's pitched her voice low she still winces and closes her eyes.
"Would someone be so kind as to fetch me a blanket, please?" Valentine whispers.
