**Brief History:
Thane… To those who have heard this name before know him only as a dark legend, to those who have had the misfortune of being his assignment… know him as a relentless nightmare. Those of the court simply know him as a loyal and merciless soldier who can be relied upon to get the job done.
To Thane it is all about duty and honor. He is a proud soldier and excellent century his one aim is only to serve his queen to the best of his ability.
Thane was enlisted from his village guard and posted to guard the gates of hell from a young age. His tenacity and bravery got him more attention than he bargained for. His sheer savagery and skill in battle earned him favor with his commanders, and his leadership and discipline allowed him to claw his way through the ranks swiftly. As fate would have it, he eventually was promoted to Captain of the Gate. His special talent for sniffing out stowaways and unauthorized "visitors" caught the attentions of the Century Command.
Realizing the dark hound had vast potential, they excruciatingly tested Thane and his skills at special operations. A trial that earned him an honored promotion to the Elite guard. Trained and experienced in tactics and strategy, along with Thane’s acute hunting and tracking skills have made him an excellent elite, fully capable of solo assignments. With a full promotion to Commander, he has been given responsibility and individual field command of assorted Rachet hunter killer teams and leads a full battalion of hell’s legion. Driven by his since of duty and savagery Thane has a name and reputation some have become to recognize as one of hell’s most feared retrievers.
**Basic Personality:
Honor, duty, and loyalty to the corps, Thane is wholly dedicated to the work he does. His ambition and fortitude to succeed make him an unstoppable force when he has his assignment. Quick whited and calculating Thane always gets his mark sooner or later through sheer tenacity and will to win.
**Powers and Abilities:
A Warrior among warriors. His strategies and methods are unorthodox, unpredictable and totally effective. Astonishing strength, powerful jaws and fearsome talons add to his menacing features. Feats as leaping with astonishing distance and great speed serve him to fullest advantage. His keen hearing, acute sense of smell and ‘Dark sight’ night vision are some of his greatest assets to accomplishing his missions. As a shape-shifter, Thane can transform into humanoid form to pursue those who have escaped to the sedimentary plane (earth).
Flamewalk: as a Rachet, Thane may walk through fire completely unharmed even by smoke inhalation, a skill he uses to full advantage.
Howl: The Howl of a Gabriel Rachet causes instant fear in all lower creatures, a talent Thane loves to use to startle his prey.
**Weakness(es):
His dog like appearance makes him subject to many a joke amongst his peers, which annoys Thane greatly. His sensitive hearing can be a detriment to sharp and loud noises and high frequency sounds are temporarily paralyzing. His profound since of duty make him impossible to reason with and can sometimes make him "blinded" to fulfill his mission.
**Fatal Weakness:
His profound loyalty to the elite corps is unwavering. This can be manipulated to force him into awful life threatening situations and double crosses. The chain, Malice, being forged from his blood has its own devotion to the corps equal to that of Thane. Should the chain sense any unjust sway in Thane from his sworn loyalty to the elite corps the chain may forsake Thane and kill him.
**Magical Items:
The chain of Malice. See description below.
**Non-Magical Items:
Throwing daggers and a black bladed scimitar with an over-the-shoulder scabbard. A thick leather belt with assorted belt packs filled with smoke bombs and other objects of stealth and concealment. His black leather uniform with full length hooded cloak and/or leather trench coat in the mortal realm.
**Appearance:
**Rachet form: When Thane is in hell he immediately assumes his natural appearance. Standing at a whopping 5'10" tall, Thane is a bit short for his kind but what he lacks in height he makes up for with his massive 300 lb frame. Thane has very distinctive canine features as most Gabriel Rachet’s do. Large alert ears, protruding muzzle with sharp fangs, and piercing eyes that are so highly refractive they to glint in low light. When angered Thane’s eyes become fiery from the smoldering element that burns deep within him. His massive neck and shoulders are very muscular and readily portray his physical prowess. His hybrid humanoid/lupine body is covered in a thick charcoal and rust colored fur. His heavily muscular hocked hind legs allow for his astonishing leaping ability and running speed. His tail is short and very hairy. His prehensile paws are very meaty with thick claws at the ends of thick fingers. His magical black chain is always wrapped about his body like a heavy, metal jerkin.
**Human form: His shape-shifting powers allow him to assume human form in order to "blend in" to human society. Quite literally a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He assumes this rudimentary human form to fool the mortals to believing him to be one with them. His human looks are passable in that they greatly soften his canine features, though his features are still rather rachet. His teeth are still sharp, his facial features are still somewhat canine, his long hair and full beard are coarse with the charcoal with rust colored highlights as his fur, his claws are still present on his hands and feet, and he retains his tail that he must hide beneath his trench coat not to stand out. His piercing deep red eyes are so prominent that he must hide them behind tinted eyewear to also enhance the human illusion. His height remains unchanged but his bulk is reduced to 210lbs.
Thane stays in the shadows where his senses are superior to others. He will risk exposure only when his mission depends upon it to capture his mark. He will quickly snatch them up and flee into the darkness to shred and or devour his prize thus returning the renegade soul back to hell. Other marks are either arrested and/ or escorted in his custody back to Hell.
**Animal form: His shape-shifting powers allow him to assume the form of a gigantic dog that resembles a wolf hybrid form with charcoal and rust colored fur. Thane uses this guise to roam freely about with speed and stealth in daylight hours where his human form may hinder his movements or draw unwanted attention. His chain mimics a collar and broken chain as if he were an escaped pet that broke free from his master's kennels and dismissed as such thus to overt the odd, suspicious onlookers.
