Name: Illyon de Verrin
Rank: Marquis; Leccubi Councilman; Exotic Pets Merchant
Brief History:
The youngest family of impoverished pet merchants, it initially seemed as though Illyon would suffer at the bottom of society. However, when his father died in a dispute with a hired hand, it was Illyon who took over the family. He turned the impoverished, failing business into one of the best in the city.
All this success brought Illyon to the attention of a noble Incubus named Cassius. He managed to gain entree to one of de Verrin's parties and in the fray, cornered him and turned him into his vampire slave.
Illyon suffered this for centuries, his power being kept deliberately low so Cassius could maintain his hold on him. However, just before the Second War, Illyon planned an attack on himself, forcing Cassius to use his own blood to save him. De Verrin bled him dry, killing his former master.
As a newly risen Incubus, de Verrin tested his new-found powers in the Second War, bringing him much distinction.
A Marquis in his own right now, de Verrin runs his business and dabbles in the many intrigues of court politics. Though he has been implicated in many a downfall of the nobility, he has never been successfully connected.
Basic Personality:
Self-centered, egotistical, and vengeful are just some of the more polite words that come to mind when describing Illyon de Verrin. His first and foremost concern is himself; others don't even come into the equation unless they can do something for him. He is outspoken and can be brutally honest, making him somewhat unpopular among the nobility. However, his connections, wealth, and power make him a dangerous Devil to cross.
He shows interest and concern over the politics of the Leccubi people, and just interest regarding their newest ambassador. He is very interested to see what the return of the Incubus King might bring.
Powers/Abilities:
Seduction - All Leccubi are extremely attractive and sensual, and de Verrin is no exception. He does not need to concentrate to use this ability to attract others.
Strength - As a Leccubi, de Verrin is significantly stronger than other Devils. He is nowhere near Fallen or Ratchet strength, however.
Healing - As a Leccubi, Illyon heals very rapidly, able to mend broken bones within a matter of hours. More severe injuries can take several days (or, more rarely, weeks to months) to heal, but unless otherwise stated, he will eventually heal.
Thrall - Illyon can place one lower-level demon or Angel into a sort of hypnotic state. The victim will experience only pleasure in this state. Illyon can make his victims experience extreme pleasure, but no actual release.
Creation of Others - As a Leccubi, de Verrin can create others of his kind. However, he has never used this ability on another, and is not like to do so ever.
Alchemy - Illyon is considered a master of the art, having been proficient in its use since he was a boy. He is able to brew poisons, both vicious and subtle, as well as several potions that can aide in sleep and relaxation - which is mostly used on his not-quite-trained stock. While he can brew some healing droughts, de Verrin rarely does this as he has not the inclination to help others without getting something in return.
Spider - Illyon de Verrin is something of a virtuoso of intrigue and plots. He has a enormous network of spies and informants that keep him up-to-date of the goings on in Pandemonium and Hell. Along with those spies and informants are also agents who are either indebted to or paid by de Verrin to ensure his will is done - whether it be assassination, kidnapping, or most likely, as simple as a stolen ingredient or spill of wine on a dress.
Weaknesses:
Sunlight - If exposed to direct sunlight, Illyon will burst into flames and die.
Wooden Stakes - These are only effective if they pierce his heart, otherwise they only piss him off. Injuries and wounds from wooden stakes will take nearly twice as long to heal.
Holy Symbols - Holy symbols will cause discomfort to de Verrin. If held by a true believer, it can cause more pain, and if held by an Angel, will cause fairly moderate pain. If touched by a holy symbol held by a true believer, it will burn and scar de Verrin. The injury is obviously more severe if the symbol is held by an Angel.
Holy Water - Holy water acts as a corrosive acid to all Leccubi, and in large quantities, can cause death.
Blood & Lust - Illyon needs blood and sex to survive. Without either, he will devolve into a mindless beast. If pressed, he can feed only on blood or sex once in the night, but must feed on the other, preferably both, the next night or begin suffering discomfort.
Sharp Tongue - Though a Leccubi, de Verrin was originally a Devil, and maintains his sharp tongue. He has, however, seemed to have some modicum of control over it and has made it far more subtle.
Vengeful - Few dare cross de Verrin and survive unscathed. Every slight, real or imagined, must be repaid by de Verrin at least a hundred fold before he will be content. It is rumored, though never proven, that he has been behind the fall of many a powerful demon in Hell.
Prejudice - For reasons unknown, Illyon loathes both Rachets and Fallen, extending it even to Pe'ri. He refuses to keep either as pets in his shop, and balks at working with them in his plans. He will, if forced, work with them, but he makes his disdain of them known.
Magical Items:
Silver Coronet - It is part of a set. It's mate is a gold coronet. The gold coronet allows the wearer to hear the thoughts and send their own to whomever wears the silver coronet. The gold coronet was, of course, destroyed, but de Verrin continues to wear the silver for reasons he keeps to himself.
Ledger - A somewhat small, leather-bound book. If opened by any other than Illyon, it will only show blank pages. To Illyon, it shows his business's expenditures, profits, and pretty much everything of importance, acting as something of a PDA. He carries this on his person at all times.
Signet Ring - A small ring that can summon Illyon to Court. Worn on the middle finger of his right hand.
Non-Magical Items:
Dagger - A plain dagger, nothing special about it.
Appearance:
At about 5'6", Illyon is fairly tall for a Devil. He has a toned build, sleeker than most Devils. His skin is a dark red, his hair darker still. His eyes are black, and have all the expression of a hunting shark. He usually wears his wavy, chin-length hair loose.
Illyon most often wears long-sleeved shirts, snug vests, and snug pants that stop about mid-calf to accommodate for his taloned, hocked legs. His tail is very prehensile, moreso than most Devils. He keeps his claws and talons well-maintained, and polished to a high sheen. His horns are settled at the top of his forehead, and are somewhat short for a Devil his age.
