Lysandor puts a reassuring hand on Ciel's shoulder, mindful of her wish to be discreet in her shakenness. "Unfortunately, yes, it is normal for them to fail more than they succeed in the beginning. But it is from their failures that they learn. Some must learn the hard way."
He listens as Nyxereos berates the Nightmare and looks at the newly Fallen. "Short of killing him or permanently or temporarily maiming him, how would you discipline this cadet? For certainly giving away your position to the enemy would warrent a disciplinary action."

Nyxereos hears Lysandor's words fill his ears. With out killing, or maiming leaves very few options. Nyxereos reacts as his hand shoots out before him to make his message clear to the rest of the recruits. The nightmare drops into the earth like a trapdoor suddenly opens beneath him. His black form disappears from sight in a blink of an eye as the ground swallows him whole and the arena goes pitch black. The earth glowing very faintly at Nyxereos feet with an evil smile twisting his lips as he whispers one cryptic word in the silent dark, "Timeout."

Ciel smiled as she got her answer. " So long as they actually learn, I take it..."
She stayed close to Lysandor and leaned in to speak into his ear, so low that Nyxereos couldn't hear. "Where exactly has he put the Nightmare? I do believe that this punishment must be explained...it seems rather like harming him... and on top of that, I am very curious as to what he has done."

When the Nightmare disappears into the earth, Ciel can feel Lysandor stiffen slightly under her hand. He looks down at the ground emitting a faint, strange glow, then back up at the newly Fallen with a frown.
"I, too, am most curious to know what he has done with my cadet," Lysandor mutters to Ciel, the vaguest of unease creeping in his voice. He speaks louder to Nyxereos, "Perhaps you can explain what you have done with my cadet, Nyxereos."

The fallen stands tall as he folds his arm across his chest. He looks to the faint glow as it slowly begins to fade and the reflection dies in his steely eyes. "He is right there... not 6 inches beneath you. Un-maimed... he lives... as per your requirement Master Lysandor. Though his embers fade from the lack of air... as is he. A lesson learned that he will not soon forget... The struggle for life grips him now, I can feel the earth tighten around him as his tremors echo through the soil from his panicked state. His heart beats wildly and soon, it will stop altogether... and he knows it. Though that would kill him wouldn't it."
Nyxereos raises his hands slowly and the nightmare then erupts from the ground like a mini volcano. He gasps for air as the dirt releases him again to the surface. He begins to whinny and snort from the soil in his nose and mouth turning to mud from his snot and saliva foaming about his muzzle from the asphyxia.
"Now you can see..." Nyxereos says with a glint of satisfaction in his eye, "He will be so disinclined to resort to such blind insolence in the future."

Ciel listens and then turns to Lysandor. " Very effective, I would say. Do you agree Master Elite?" Her looks is one of unbridled curiosity.
"Do all of your kind have such gifts, youngling?"

Lysandor watches the Nightmare as he struggles for air, though he's once more above ground. He looks at the other cadets and sees the Nightmare was not the only one to have learned a lesson.
"Very effective," Lysandor tells Ciel, then he speaks loud enough so Nyxereos could hear. "Though harsh, the punishment suits his transgression." The Elite looks up at the cadets, letting his voice carry to them as well. "Endangering yourself, your comrades, and your commanding officer by giving away your position is a swift way to get yourself killed, if not by your enemies then perhaps by the your comrades if you survive to count yourselves lucky."

The recruits watch and listen as the example is made before their very eyes. They look on in shock as the Nightmare' flame illuminated them all again. He coughs and snorts being erupted from the ground with solid fear in his eyes from his unusual punishment. They all gasp at the sight and remain silent fearing their own reprimand from the unstable, silvery fallen.

Nyxereos, watches the Nightmare writhe on the ground as he resumes his ragged breathing. His eyes turn to Ciel and her question. He shakes his head 'no' to her. "Rarities all, only the most powerful have such blessings bestowed upon them." his eyes darken as his thoughts return to his banishment. "Or the most terrible that are prized of such ability, though stripped of every bit of glory and thrown like scrap into the pit to remain empty. Not to live, but to never die in eternal torment and endure the wretched curse of the blessed in the realm of the unholy."

Te be wealcomed like a bloody hero 'er sometin'... treddin' on roses and havin' yer sheineh' arse kissed by the entirety of the underworld fer bein' a colossal bone head?...eh? Didjah?" He says with slap to Nyxereos shoulder.
"Now... don't go cryn' on me shoulder fer your tinsy lil' wea' social problems fellah, I've got plenteh 'o' me own noodle scratchers to go on worrin' 'bout. An' so do the rest 'o' us... so don' go thinkin' it is easy fer de rest 'o' us just cause we were fortunate te bein' born down 'ere? ... No offense to yee fallen, but bloody get over it alreadeh... Nyxereos looks to Kane with scorn in his black eyes. "I do not remember granting any of you permission to speak... Cadet. If you value your tongue where it currently resides, bite it, lest your remarks make you subject to being made the next example of insubordination." He snaps off with a look that could kill.

Ciel smiled and kept her hand safely where it was. For some reason she felt less afraid or nervous with her hand on Lysandor. She nodded approvingly at Nyxereos when he snapped at the big cadet. She leaned in and whispered to Lysandor. "Perhaps I was wrong about the youngling. He may just make it after all..."

Lysandor watches the interaction between Nyxereos and the cadet, not interfering out of curiosity of how the newly Fallen would react. Though he agrees with the cadet, he also approves of Nyxereos's reaction.
"It does bode well for him," Lysandor replies to Ciel, still watching the cadets, especially the silvery Fallen. "He is still new to our ways and still feels the pain of what he thinks he has lost, but with time, I think he can rise above his pain and become what our Regent meant him to be."
Lysandor looks over to the cadets, and frowns. The Devil and Devilcat Pe'ri are the only two injured, but the rest look just as disheveled, with the exception of Nyxereos.
"Your choice of retreat was flawless," Lysandor tells them, but something in his tone makes it clear that the next thing he's going to say will undermine that. "Flawless if you had faced the threat individually, rather than as a group. You react as though you had faced this threat alone. You are a squad of Elite cadets, not simply well-trained soldiers." Lysandor looks at each cadet, individually, to make his words hit home. "In the battlefield, you are to move as a unit, attack as a unit. Your comrade is not simply a demon that fights alongside you in battle, but fights with you, combining your skills to defeat your foe. The same is true when falling back. Use your skills to retreat quickly and effieciently to help each other, and perhaps next time, none will be injured."

Ciel nods in response and says nothing more. She is still somewhat unsettled by the big fallen that showed up late, but her nerves are only on the inside...she's made sure to push everything even farther down than before.
She stares at everyone in front of her and Lysandor as he scolds them. She understands being a group....even though the troupe was very individualized at points, there were sometimes that they actually fought off bandits as a group...And she remembered when they won, as well as when they barely escaped. Perhaps war was different.
Her mind was absorbing what Lysandor said. As he finished, Ciel looked at him expectantly, wondering what was next.

The recruits help the nightmare up on his feet again. They watch as Nyxereos and Kane have their words. the return to formation and stand silent.
The female fallen -Dreatrrah- looks to Nyxereos, then Lysandor. "Permision to speak sir." She says with a curious look to Lysandor.

She blinks and responds, "How would you suggest such a tactic be implemented, sir." She says earnestly. "Such an attack as this one, could have wiped us all out if we stood as one against it. Even in our field exercises have we always been told to scatter when under fire... how is that possible? We wish to learn, sir, help us to understand."
The others nod and mumble their confusion and agreement. All but Nyxereos and Kane.

Kane nods. "Aye... sir. In battle it is important to know yer surroundins, and part of that is to know what the fellah or lass next to yee is gonin' te be doin when the attack happens... just like this'n with the catapults. Yee best be prepared to make a split second desision when to duck for cover or remain mobile, for a stationary target is a dead target. The odds te hittin' a leathal strike on a fast movin' target is 2%, in a group it only raises te 5%. The accuracy of the shooter and sheer number of shooters raises the % only a wea bit, so it is best to be movin' in an non predictable patterns as not te bein' lead and shot dead. Even a group that weaves makes it difficult to target only one from the group, then they just fire blindly hopin' fer dumb luck to be their guide. The catapults had us fixed and with the light made us easy prey. All yee need do is remain mobile and not back trace yee steps. Spread out 50 paces one from the other, but remain as an extended unit. A unit that can think as a whole moves like a slippery beast that is neigh invulnerable, cunning and extremely lethal to their foe."
