Summary:
Someone - or something - is killing the Fallen in Hell - specifically the Elite. The Fallen are ambushed, and left with cauterized wounds, and that can mean only one thing. An Angel is loose in Hell. Zarek confirms this. A trap is set for the Angel, using Lye as bait. Thane and Lysandor patrol the corridors, waiting for the signal to let them know when the trap has sprung. Meanwhile, the Queen keeps close watch with Ciel and Khan in the Throne Room.
When the Angel finally attacks, the Elite spring into action, trying to herd him to the Ballroom. The Angel focuses his hatred and attacks on Zarek, and reveals himself to be Zarek's former lieutenant, the one responsible for his Fall. In a moment of rare clarity, Zarek recalls the Angel's name - Rashiel.
The fight stretches out, and it becomes clear that the Angel is more than a match for his opponents - even when Khan joins the fray. Still held in clarity of thought, Zarek does the unthinkable. He takes Rashiel on alone, and manages to move him exactly where he wants him, but Rahsiel was prepared. He grabs Zarek around the chest, pinning his arms, and begins taunting him.
And Zarek stabs himself through his own chest, to pierce Rashiel's heart.
In a move that can only be called desperate, the Queen rushes down to Zarek, and with a swirl of darkness, disappears. Her court waits, but there is no sign of her return. Days pass, then weeks, months, finally stretching into a year. During the chaos, Khan slips out of Hell, his destination unknown. The seeds of dissent being to spread and take root.
