Character Name: Yashea
Race: Fallen
Rank: low court lady / tavern singer
Brief History: Yashea was once a member of the Heavenly Choir, singing praises and glory unto Heaven and the Creation - she would sing the sunrise into being and sing the songs that would make the rainstorms come and the wind blow - your typical angel thing, glory glory, love love love. Once Man came, her song faltered a bit, as she really couldn't understand God's obsession with them, but she really didn't think about them too much - she still loved everything else about creation, especially the beautiful nature (like Elysian fields) that was in Heaven. If she had a fault, it was a very isolationist viewpoint and a somewhat snobbery about Heaven. She would have been perfectly happy if it were just the Angels and God, and whatever Lucifer and the demons wanted to do was their business. When the Second War broke out she fought alongside her comrades againt Lucifer's armies, but questioned the validity of the War - "Why are we fighting? Why don't we just let Lucifer have the humans, they're more trouble than they're worth!" When her protestations were taken to be a traitorous viewpoint, she was cast down (it also didn't help that she wasn't as bloodthirsty as her comrades - she was an artistic soul, a muse, not a fighter.)
Now that she's a Fallen, her views have greatly changed. She no longer is just annoyed and confused by humans, she hates them with a bloody passion. She blames them for her fall (even moreso than Heaven). But she does hate Heaven as well and is loyal to Hell and the Queen's plans (insofar as she's aware of them, as much as anyone else in Hell is aware of them.) While all Fallen are members of the low court and thus noblemen and woman, Yashea still works as a musician, playing for the various taverns that sprung up around the Market. It's simply something she enjoys, as she never lost her gift for music...but there's no praise or love in her songs anymore.
Basic Personality: Yashea is quiet and contemplative, must more apt to discuss a problem than jump to conclusions or come to blows. She likes to watch rather than participate, but nothing escapes her notice. She still holds her isolationst viewpoint, in that she really doesn't bother much with the other races because, as a Fallen, she doesn't feel they are quite 'up to her level' . Because of that she doesn't make friends very easily, but she does have a strange fascination with, and fondness for, ShapeShifters - perhaps because they are so connected with nature and animals (something she misses.) Her one failing in her hatred for humans. If it were up to her, Hell would unleash it's hordes upon Earth and smite them all - in horrible and gruesome ways. But she keeps her feelings on this much to herself, though if she ever visits the mortal realm she always 'messes' with a human - making one fall in love desparately here (and leaving them crushed), making one suicidal there, bringing pain to them in little ways, just for the fun of it. Part of her heart is always locked in this darkness, which she struggles to keep hidden - it's not good for an avenging Fallen angel to appear on Earth mercilessly killing people, obviously. It's someting she always has to fight within herself. A very small part of this (which she doesn't even like to admit to herself) is also overwhelming guilt - that blames her Fall on her lack of bloodlust against her enemy. She makes sure this will not happen again, and trains, always ready in case she is called upon again to be a warrior. If Hell ever goes into battle with Heaven again, she will not falter; she'll cut the wings from every angel before she fails again.
Subconciously, pain and blood helps her think or calm down. In times of high stress, worry or when her mental mind is elsewhere (daydreaming, thinking hard, etc) she will mutilate herself, through her fingernails or more often by whatever pointy object is within her reach. She's ended a lot of get-togethers with this 'quirk' - imagine her off daydreaming while others chat around her, when suddenly she grabs a knife (even a blunt butterknife works - ouch!), stabs it through her hand and nonchalantely joins the conversation. If she notices it jiggling around in her flesh, she'll calmly pull it out, lick off her blood (always does this) without missing a beat of the conversation. It's more comedic than angsty -- she's chatted with people about the weather while cutting a tic-tac-toe game into her arm.
Powers and Abilities: She has the power of flight and strength, like all Fallen, though she is not as strong as others. She trains to work on this, and to learn to fight better. Her empathy works favorably towards others of her kind and animals (she has a special fondness for them) in that she can simply 'read' emotions - with animals she gains a kind of 'connection' with them. She uses it against humans, often messing with people's emotions and using it to cause much mischief and delight for herself. Her music is her strongest gift though. Her voice in song can 'sooth the savage beast' and calm lower races down. Tavern owners in The Market say she's better than any bouncer in ending a bar fight! She can put smaller animals in a trance and calm larger ones down. Her song can put any human in a trance and she uses this to her advantage, acting much like a siren from mythology. Other Fallen and Higher Races are unaffected by her music, though many enjoy listening for the pleasure.
Weakness(es): Her hatred against humans, as she must constantly fight her bloodlust, and this hatred can make her work against her usual clear-thinking nature. Mortal music also works against her, though it depends on what the music is. Orchestral music, classical, the master works, makes her weak and ill. Anything with strings makes her nauseous. Anything else (rock, pop, techno) gives her a headache. She also has a distinct dislike for sunrises - see below for why.
Fatal Weakness: Any angelic music, or singing are deadly to her; she becomes paralysed and is vulnerable to any attack. If she were to hear the full onslaught of the Angelic Choir, it would be instantly fatal. She cannot abide sunrises because the choir sings the sun to rise and if she's on the mortal plane she gets violently ill - it's on the edge of her perception (angels aren't on the Earth) but she can 'hear' it.
Magical Items: A small harp of silver and gold she managed to keep with her. When played it puts almost anything to sleep until they are awoken, or wake naturally -- except the higher classes, which it doesn't work on. It will cause a human to come under her spell and obey anything she says - they 'lose themselves' in the music, becoming almost an empty shell. The effects are akin to amnesia and fade away once the harp is back in Hell (the influence is gone). She rarely uses it though, as she is very protective of it and wouldn't want it's power to fall into the wrong hands.
Non-Magical Items: A plain silver dagger in a sheath attached to her left forearm, that she only wears when she visits the Mortal realm; in case she is attacked (or invites attack for the fun of it.)
Appearance: Yashea stands 6' 3'' with long (to her lower back) straight white-blonde hair. It hangs loose and is haphazardly parted in the middle. She wears a dark brown leather thong wrapped around the front, to keep it out of her face. Her skin is a rich cocoa color, marred only by a deep ragged scar along the side of her torso that shows up white agianst her dark skin. This is her only battle wound. She is thin but fit, with the beauty befitting a former Angel. Her eyes are amber-colored. She wears a lace-up bodice and long flowing silk skirt, both a deep emerald shade. Silver armbands encircle her upper arms, and she wears a single silver wristcuff with an onyx stone embedded in it on her right wrist. She has wings that hang below her lower back which glow faintly with a pearly luminescence. She rarely uses them for flight though, and chooses to keep them hidden much of the time (they can be vanished at her will.)
