(OOC: The events in this thread occur at the same time as the ones in the Epic- Flaming Swords and Fallen)
Turning her attention from her attempt to explain her joke to Lord Erethkhaniel- The Queen raises an eyebrow at Thane, one small foot tapping at the edge of the throne.
"Well, Master Elite? What news?"

With the Queen's attention elsewhere for the moment, Khan proceeds to make himself comfortable by climbing fluidly up the side of the throne's great back, coming to perch gargoyle-like just off-center at the top, wings draping down the sides to cover all save a central portion of the Queen, legs, torso, and face seeming to peek out of a rippling curtain of deep russet. Clinging with his feet, Khan fills his goblet, takes a sip, and replaces his unused hand on the back of the throne after putting Heartsblood away. He then twists with his arm and legs to almost lay back along the upper arch, comfortable, but with his feet and hand grasping various points and clearly the only things keeping him from tumbling off. Somehow he makes it all look almost routine, and the wing-curtain barely even shifts at all. His gaze then shifts to Thane as he is speaking.

Thane watches Kahn as he ascends up the back of the throne and the queens words draw his attentions back to the matter at hand. "Grand Highness... new evidence has been uncovered that sheds new light on the stage of recent events." Thane projects his voice to speak loud and clear. "A parchment that I had uncovered has lead Lord Zarek to confirm the slayer to be indeed an angel of great power." Thane says as he continues to watch Kahn in his precarious position perched atop the throne. "My lord has issued to me new orders and has placed me on continuous patrol." Thane continues his report, "I regret I will not share the honor of being your protector, but must return to my duty by M'lord General's bidding, My Exalted Empress, I leave you in Lord Erethkahniel's very capable claws."

The Queen sits up and looks at Thane.
"Wait." She glances up at Khan for a moment and then leans to the side of her throne to look at some one standing in the shadows of the pillars.
"Lysandor? Would you go with Thane please? I would worry less if there were two of you together." Her voice is light hiding the strain of worry that such a creature is loose in her palace.
"I am very worried for Lye..." She trails off looking at the floor- lost in concentration....

Thane holds as commanded and remains bowed as Ghostie summons forth Lysandor from the shadows. Thane's ears twitch to home in on the stoic elite as his presence has gone undetected so far to Thane despite the hound's sharp senses... distractions not withstanding.
As his Queen commands Lysandor to accompany Thane on his patrol, Thane watches her as she becomes visibly absent after she speaks of her concern for Lye and falls oddly silent. Thane's first instinct is to charge forward and gather her up in his arms to prevent her from fainting... yet he remains solid as a statue as he stares at her and begins to faintly whine as he feels helpless to aid her. Thane readies himself to leap to her in an instant should she start to wither from her Throne.

Lysandor emerges from the shadows, and bows to the Queen in acceptance of his orders. He then walks to Thane, and takes his place beside him. Concern for the Queen simmers in his sterling eyes, but the expression doesn't reach his face. There is a mild hollowness to his face and stance, suggesting that sleep has eluded him since the murders began. However, he is determined to do his duty.
"Majesty," Lysandor dares, speaking in his usual soft, tonelessness, "are you feeling ill?"

Her Highness shakes her head and looks around bemused.
"I was simply... watching over Lye.... I'm sorry." She pauses straightens up and takes a deep breath. "I am rather concerned, but I have great trust in the general's abilities."

Thane silently nods to Ghostie's words of the General, and sighs in relief of her reanimation. "M'Lord is our finest Champion..." Thane blurts absentmindedly of his respect of Zarek's unmatched skills on the Battle field. "I only fear for his foe." Thane boasts as he realized what had he said out loud. Thane's thoughts now reflect on the genuine fear his master had displayed out on the Palace terrace and how that simple piece of parchment could rattle the Master General of Hell's mighty army.

"Or perhaps his foe should only fear for him, for were he to die, it's vendetta would end, and then what would it's purpose be?" Khan murmurs absently, his gaze lost in the depths of his goblet as if it were showing him something. He starts a bit, then looks up, a wry grin quirking his lips. "Ah....heh....sorry. Merely commenting on our...ahem...quarry's likely mental weaknesses. Pay me no mind. And walk back to back if you can."

Thane's thoughts are interrupted by Khan's words. Thane stands but keeps a respectful tilt to his head. "This troublesome holy pest has made his point well enough that he is without remorse." Thane's eyes squint, "We shall know soon enough if he is indeed without fear." Thane nods slowly.
"Thus far this 'Specialist' Angel's pattern to strike from behind and flee has all but confirmed that this menace is no more than a surly coward." Thane scoffs, "Though Lord Zarek mentioned that this angel has knowledge of his past... and it shook him soundly." Thane raises his paw to his snout and pets his fur as he thinks for a moment. "Should that prove true, then the General may indeed know the identity of this assassin personally, and may even retain some knowledge of his skills." Thane says with consideration, "His skillful avoidance of our patrols and repeated evasion of engagement suggests that his skills are assassination and that his agenda is specific. He won't spoil the chance of being captured or slain by exposing himself in open combat as you may be correct in your wise assessment that General Zarek is the primary target Lord Erethkhaniel." Thane continues, "He is seeking the right opportunity ... and we may just have provided it." Thane's eyes widen as the realization of attack may be emanate, "By your leave Dreadful Majesty... I request permission for Master Lysandor and myself to immediately return to duty." Thane asks as he places his arms at his side and bows anxiously.

The Queen nods sinking back onto her throne with a worried look.
"Yes, but watch after Lye as well..." She stares off into space again for a long moment.
"Dissmissed, go on patrol." She looks up at Khan.
"I feel as though something terrible is looming over us...Did you see something in your cup Khan?"

"As you ask, so it is done, Majesty," Lysandor replies, bowing. He turns to Thane, keeping himself open to the Queen and Lord Erethkhaniel should they require his attention again. "We should make haste, Master Thane."

Khan looks down at the Queen, still draped in his wings, a slightly absent, affectionate smile playing across his features. "No, my Lady, I don't believe so. I was merely lost in contemplation for a moment, and must've faded out a bit. Though perhaps we ourselves should be making some sort of preparations for this? For while I do love spending time with your Sexiness in the throne room, or anywhere, for that matter," he says with a wry grin quirking one corner of his mouth, "I do feel as if we should be doing something. Hell itself is yours, could you not perhaps scry out the area in search of this creature, or at least keep an eye on our dear General in case he should get into more trouble than he can readily deal with?"

As soon as permission is granted Thane is on all fours bearing down on the exit. "With great haste, Master Lysandor." Thane growls to answer Lysandor as Thane then blows past the doors hoping Lysandor can keep up with him as he bounds full speed toward the General's and Lye's position.

Lysandor pauses very briefly to bow to the Queen, and takes off after Thane. At first, he keeps up, but Thane steadily begins to draw away, though he does manage to keep the Gabriel Rachet in sight at all times.

Ever so softly, they both hear a soft whooshing sound. Ciel appears at the door gingerly and pokes in her head. Seeing her Queen drooped in such a way, she automatically shadows to her Queen's feet.
"Majesty... Are you ill? Am I needed here with you?" She rubs her head into Erishkegal's side and turns to Khan slowly.
"My Lord Khan, I've heard tell around the castle about an...an angel. Here. Is this true?" She sounds frightened, yet she is more concerned about her Queen. She barely even looks at Khan.

Khan looks at Ciel, one eyebrow quirking ever so slightly, and then his lips subtly twist in wry amusement, though he restrains himself from any further, more obvious display. As it was, with him being on top of the throne, most would be hard put to notice unless paying close attention. "Yes, my dear, it is indeed true. We must all be on our guard. Our queen, I believe, is merely somewhat distressed with worry over our general's safety. Which reminds me, " he says, looking down to Ghostie, "did you ever manage to see if you could check up on him?"

Casting a glance upward at Khan she nods reluctantly. Her Terrible Cuteness looks down at Ciel with a small frown line between her brows. She pats the throne's wide arm.
"Yes, but... Well, it might explode. Ciel, come up here on the arm of the throne, it's a little safer if the floor caves in." The inlayed floor in the center of the throne room begins to dip slightly like wax being melted from underneath.

Ciel shadows quickly up to the arm of the throne, curling as protectively as she can around her Queen.
"Is my lord Zarek going to be safe Master? An-angels are. . .terrible things..." She shivers very slightly and continues to curl around her Queen as she's able. Occasionally, she steals a glance at Khan, the worry still in her pretty green eyes.

Khan looks down at Ciel. "Yes, my dear, Angels ARE terrible things, without mercy for their enemies. We know quite well, our Zarek used to be one of them." His countenance turns a little stony. "And we will all do whatever we must to protect our own from it. Especially the Queen. So fret not, my precious, but be always on your guard. All will be well."
